As part of a project commissioned by Noobz From Poland, we created three trailers announcing the release of the Total Tank Simulator game. The animations we created were composed of 30-second animated sequences and trailer parts. Each stage of the project was consulted with representatives of the publisher – 505 Games.
Form and technique
The main objective during this assignment was to maintain the style of the game while making the story part stand out from the gameplay.
Announcement Trailer
The story presented in the first of the trailers we created tells of a soldier standing alone on the battlefield, a member of the Noobz From Poland unit, who becomes separated from the rest of his regiment during one of the battles. When he is ambushed by the enemy and his situation seems to be at a stalemate, they unexpectedly appear – the 505 Games unit, and with it relief.
The message of our animation as a whole, apart from showing the literal layer, the plot of the production, was also to express its symbolic layer, to present 505 games as a new publisher in the industry.
Release Date Trailer
In the second part of the project, which was also the moment when the game’s release date was revealed, we opted for a slightly different style. We decided to let our imagination run wild and transfer one of the Total Tank Simulator levels to a mock-up of a real war campaign.
Release Trailer
The third trailer, released on the day of release, acts as the closure of the project and combines the concepts of the two previous animations. On the one hand, there is a realistic representation of the sand, while on the other, the characters themselves are stylised in line with the game’s convention. The whole animation, in turn, is based on the storyline of the film “How I unleashed World War II”. As in the film, our unlucky private joins the French Foreign Legion, where his desire to shine leads him into more and more trouble. In the end, however, he manages to come to the aid of his comrade from the 505 games branch, which also ties up the first and last parts of the project and, in a parabolic way, presents the fruitful cooperation between publisher and developer.
Cooperation
In order to ensure that the quality of our projects was as high as possible, we invited the leader in the soundtrack industry, PRL Studio, to collaborate on the Total Tank Simulator trailers, composing the music and adding ambient sounds to our animations.
