History
Presentation of the profile of Stanisław Sojczyński.

Goal
A film aimed at young people.

Time
2 minutes.

As part of the educational project “ZwyciężaMY – VictorioUS”, realised by the Forum for Sustainable Technology Foundation, the Circa Entertainment studio invited us to cooperate in the creation of a series of short animations concerning the anti-communist movement of the Steadfast Soldiers active during the communist period.

The cooperation was intended to familiarise the younger generation of Poles with the profiles and contributions to the fight for the country’s independence of two of the most prominent representatives of the Polish post-war independence underground: Stanisław Michał Sojczyński “Warszyc” and Henryk Antoni Flame vel Flamme “Grot” / “Bartek”.

More about the main character

Stanisław Michał Sojczyński pseud. “Warszyc” (30.03.1910-19.02.1947) – a hero of the Underground, commander of famous actions against the German occupant in Radomsko, creator of one of the largest armed organisations of the anti-Communist uprising of Poles against the Soviet occupation – the Underground Polish Army (about 3.5 thousand soldiers).

He was a man for whom continuing the fight in 1945 was the logical consequence of everything he had done up to that point. For he knew that the purpose of conspiracy had not changed, only the enemy had changed. He paid the highest price for his uncompromising stance. Together with his five subordinates, he was executed on 19 February 1947 in a prison in Łódź, three days before the Amnesty Act was passed. He was buried in an unknown location. For his services he was awarded the Silver Cross of the Virtuti Militari War Order.

Form and technique

The choice of 3D technique was not accidental here. The light, interesting form and clean design provided by our studio had a strategic task – to make it easier for viewers to assimilate the historical knowledge of national heroes, and at the same time to encourage them to deepen their own knowledge of the movement of the Steadfast Soldiers.

Historical consistency

When working on the animation for this project, we tried to reproduce the reality of the communist era as accurately as possible. However, with a view to the clarity of perception of the production, it was intentional on our part to introduce certain simplifications. One example of this was the inclusion of a scope in the Moision rifle, which in reality was not part of the prison guard’s equipment.

The entire script and all the historical-military details appearing in our animation were supervised by a representative of the Peoples’ Memorial Foundation, Mr Marcin Kaczorowski, who deals with the subject of the Polish Army of the Great Outlaws on a daily basis.

Location

Due to the multitude of anti-communist activities of Stanisław Sojczyński, when creating our animation we did not want to focus on presenting a specific event, but rather on bringing the viewers closer to the possible course of a guerrilla action typical of the formation of the Wyklęcie Soldiers.

Our inspiration and historical background here was the best-documented event from the period of “Warszyc’s” activity, which was the recapture of prisoners in Radomsko. Hence the references in the production to the building of the town hall, which was converted into a prison, or the church, which is characteristic of the town.

References to Polish culture

In order to place the action of the production even more accurately in historical time, our innate love of detail pushed us to highlight assets typical of Polish culture during the communist era. One such item was…a glass with a basket, which at the time furnished almost every Polish household. It was common practice at the time to have two sets of this type of vessels: with a metal basket – intended for guests, and with a wicker basket – reserved for everyday use. The former, usually richly decorated, gave the household an aura of luxury and modernity, which also represented the social status of its inhabitants.

Cooperation

Wanting our projects to be of the highest quality possible, we invited the leaders in sound design, PRL Studio, and animation, Tripla – led by Filip Pachucki, who has worked for companies such as Platige Studio and Ubisoft – to collaborate in the creation of ‘ZwyciężaMY – VictorioUS’.

Rekomendacje

I would like to thank Bevel Studio for the excellent cooperation during the VictorioUS animation project commemorating the Unbroken Soldiers. I am impressed by your professionalism, attention to the smallest details and, above all, your "conjured up" images faithfully reflecting historical realities. It is a real pleasure to work with you.

I really enjoyed working with Bevel Studio.
Together we created 2 cinematics based on WW2 Story.
It was really challenging assignment due to the tight deadlines from the client. They menage to provide great lightning and environment created fully in Blender.
I highly recommend this creative team for your upcoming projects.

Animacje wczesnośredniowiecznych grodów w fabularyzowanym filmie dokumentalnym „Od Popiela do Piasta“ z serii Tajemnice początków Polski miały kardynalne znaczenie. Nasza współpraca układała się wzorowo, począwszy od bardzo dobrej komunikacji podczas przekazywania naukowych wytycznych przy rekonstruowaniu zabytków do ustawień pracy kamery i oświetlenia. Dzięki temu obiekty historyczne zostały zrekonstruowane z pietyzmem, a animacje zyskały filmowy charakter.
Dziękuję za znakomity efekt!
