As part of the educational project “ZwyciężaMY – VictorioUS”, realised by the Forum for Sustainable Technology Foundation, the Circa Entertainment studio invited us to cooperate in the creation of a series of short animations concerning the anti-communist movement of the Steadfast Soldiers active during the communist period.

The cooperation was intended to familiarise the younger generation of Poles with the profiles and contributions to the fight for the country’s independence of two of the most prominent representatives of the Polish post-war independence underground: Stanisław Michał Sojczyński “Warszyc” and Henryk Antoni Flame vel Flamme “Grot” / “Bartek”.

More about the main character

Henryk Antoni Flame vel Flamme a.k.a. “Grot” / “Bartek” (15.01.1918 – 01.12.1947) – Conspiracy hero, Polish Army pilot, captain of the National Armed Forces, founder of the most numerous partisan unit operating in Cieszyn Silesia (approximately 300 partisans), which was responsible for carrying out about 340 military actions.

From the moment the Red Army entered Czechowice in February 1945, he carried out secret recommendations of the NSZ command – he revealed himself and, together with his unit, made himself available to the authorities. Against the protests of the local communists, he took the post of commander of the local Civic Militia station. Following the guidelines of the NSZ command, he manned the police station and its subordinate units with his own people, and gathered around him people with anti-communist views. In April 1945, seeing how the new authorities were proceeding, he deserted from service and began to recreate a Silesian partisan unit. Wanting to liquidate his formation, the UB organised a provocation with the use of agents, as a result of which “Bartek” was forced to disclose himself. He was shot dead on 1 December 1947 in a restaurant in Zabrzeg by a local militia officer, who was not held responsible for his act. He was buried in the cemetery at St Catherine’s Church in Czechowice. Decorated with the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

Form and technique

The choice of 3D technique was not accidental here. The light, interesting form and clean design provided by our studio had a strategic task – to make it easier for viewers to assimilate the historical knowledge of national heroes, and at the same time to encourage them to deepen their own knowledge of the movement of the Steadfast Soldiers.

Perception of actions

As well as attempting to portray the characteristics of the armed actions of the Polish partisans, one of the main aims of our animation was to show the attitude of local communities towards the soldiers and the actions they carried out, particularly the way in which they recruited people hostile to the communist authorities.

Locations

As in the case of Stanislaw “Warszyc” Sojkowski, due to the multiplicity, as well as the scope, of Henryk Flame’s anti-communist activities in Cieszyn Silesia, we decided to focus our attention on creating a collective place of events and presenting the specifics of the course of the partisan action of recovering the post, rather than a specific place and event from a historical point of view.

Historical consistency

Constant consultations with Mr. Marcin Kaczorowski of the Peoples’ Memorial Foundation allowed us to faithfully reproduce the armament available to both anti-communist partisan forces and pro-government militia units.

A characteristic element of the equipment used by the “Steadfast” was above all the weapons acquired during previous battles with the Nazis . Hence the German “Luger” from the Second World War appearing in the hands of Henryk Flame.

Cooperation

Wanting our projects to be of the highest quality possible, we invited the leaders in sound design, PRL Studio, and animation, Tripla – led by Filip Pachucki, who has worked for companies such as Platige Studio and Ubisoft – to collaborate in the creation of ‘ZwyciężaMY – VictorioUS’.

Rekomendacje

I would like to thank Bevel Studio for the excellent cooperation during the VictorioUS animation project commemorating the Unbroken Soldiers. I am impressed by your professionalism, attention to the smallest details and, above all, your "conjured up" images faithfully reflecting historical realities. It is a real pleasure to work with you.

I really enjoyed working with Bevel Studio.
Together we created 2 cinematics based on WW2 Story.
It was really challenging assignment due to the tight deadlines from the client. They menage to provide great lightning and environment created fully in Blender.
I highly recommend this creative team for your upcoming projects.

Animacje wczesnośredniowiecznych grodów w fabularyzowanym filmie dokumentalnym „Od Popiela do Piasta“ z serii Tajemnice początków Polski miały kardynalne znaczenie. Nasza współpraca układała się wzorowo, począwszy od bardzo dobrej komunikacji podczas przekazywania naukowych wytycznych przy rekonstruowaniu zabytków do ustawień pracy kamery i oświetlenia. Dzięki temu obiekty historyczne zostały zrekonstruowane z pietyzmem, a animacje zyskały filmowy charakter.
Dziękuję za znakomity efekt!
